SHINING STARS OF 2023

25. - 26.11.2023 NARVA, ESTONIA

For this dog show we journeyed to the Estonian - Russian border to explore and for Christmas beverage buying. The whole team came along.

There were many concrete barriers installed along the border crossing with very little traffic. Narva Castle (also known as Hermann Castle) on the Estonian side was beautifully illuminated while Ivangorod Fortress on the Russian side was dark with only the rooftop Russian flag illuminated.

Erja worked as a professional assistant, readying the dogs for the ring at the right moment while taking care of the usual routines.

At SuPerAlko, I got great tips for wines and I hope the recipients of these Christmas wines are satisified with their wine bouquets.

It was a gloomy and gray day with heavy sleet at random intervals when it was blown away by gusts of wind that swept over the field, rustled the review papers and slammed against the competitor already struggling to cope with the sleet.

However, real people aren't discouraged by something so small as they push on for a good result.

4.11.2025 TARTU, ESTONIA INT

In Finland we had snow, frost and studded tires, when we left with Sari on a November winter's day for Estonia. Karita and Salli joined us on the boat. The trip went by fast with conversation over brunch.

From Tallinn we headed towards Tartu. In contrast to back home, in Estonia the weather was fall-like with warmer temps around 9ᵒ and clear skies.

We were lucky enough to be in Hall C where the temperature is cool and the rings are a good size.

The wonderful day ended with dinner at restaurant La Dolce Vita where I had the best pizza in my life. Thanks to Eeva, Eija, Ghita, Sarah, Karita, Salla and Sari for the talks and laughter for this group of women.

We took Petra along on a mini-vacation to Seinäjoki. The trip consisted of good food, laughter and conversation. Thanks to Lady and John! We got a boost for the gray fall.

There was also a dog show on this trip. What could an old dog accomplish? The whole team was present on Sunday when Johanna and Amanda arrived in Seinäjoki.

4. - 8. 10. 2023 WUSV WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP GYŐR-GYIRMÓT, HUNGARY

Jussi Pitkänen & Lynxfelsen Bando ”Jare”

”Jare” participated in his last competition at the WUSV World Championship in Hungary. He has reached the max age limit for protection dog competition.

The competition did not go as planned but we tried our best. The bone dry track was a challenge for us. The second corner in particular did us in as Jare lost his footing. He tried his best to regain control but he was ultimately unsuccessful. As I was the driver, there was no other option than to throw in the towel.

Obedience and protection went along without any issues.

"Jare has been a educational dog for me. I've had to revise my training methods several time along the way from when he was a puppy to a protection dog. We got good advice from others on how to fix issues. I want to thank Jare's breeder, the goalkeepers and, most importantly, my family who made all of this possible."

”Jare” competed in three IGP Finnish Championships and represented Finland twice at the WUSV World Championship.

Working together with ”Jare” we had a clear cut objective, not a long journey. Now it is time for ”Jare” to retire.

It has been some time since the last mother/daughter trip to the other side of the Baltic. All of the old hits are still good today: good food, shoppping and watching the Tallinn Marathon. Champagne Crème brûlée was my daughter's favorite choice because of the taste rather than the appearance. Shopping wasn't very expensive as we spent about 20€. We watched the marathon close to the finish line.

It was a plesant sunny day at the racetrack in Riihimäki. There wasn't any rain to speak of however, the ring grass was wet from rain the previous day. We made sure to bring the right shoes for the event.

Foreca's weather forecast for Sunday called for poor conditions. The forecast was pretty much spot on as the day was rainy and cold. Luckly we came prepared with rain coats, boots, wool socks, eiderdown and gloves. There are always good vibes with the show in Harjavalta and the wonderful results kept us warm.

The iron team of ladies into dog shows traveled to Vaasa's Botniahall, taking advantage of the good Spring weather. The journey was smooth sailing, reminiscing of past times and laughing at the blunders of dog shows in the past.

With nine white miniature schnauzers in the competition, Macarena De Pichera "Carmen" performed wonderfully with Amanda presenting. The review is a good read and it was a joy to watch the pair work, thank you Amanda!
