Dreams motivate us to take action towards the things that interest us. Getting started is necessary to pursing those dreams and it is good to keep in mind that the journey can start with the smallest of things. On that journey, we often need encouragement to seize on those opportunities and make the choices that lead towards our dreams.
Thanks to all whom made building towards this dream possible.
The journey towards new realized dreams continues.

The Finnish Miniature Schnauzer's Club yearly expert lecture was one of the better lectures. Veterinarian Marja Hass from Eläinklinikka Juuri gave an updated lecture on the health of the mouth and teeth of canines.
It's a shame that there weren't more people in attendance for the lecture for the topic concerns both ordinary Miniature Schnauzer owners and breeders. For example, the committee of the Finnish Miniature Schnauzer Association could conduct a survey of its member pertaining to the situation of dental equipment for miniature schnauzers.
Marja Hassi has been veterinarian for 20 years. Her passion is the well-being of the teeth of canines for over 13 years. She is one of Finland's leading dental specialists.
After the lecture, I felt that knowledge adds to the pain.
The very first slide talking about the current attitude towards canine dental care throughout the ages. It made me wonder what I really know about the subject. Today, it is known that dental diseases are the most common diseases in pets. The information pertaining to periodontitis was mind-blowing. According to her:
The miniature schnauzer breed is one type of canine that suffers from periodontitis, or inflammation of the connective tissue. In the social media group Kääpiösnautseri - Käppänä, you can find posts about the experiences of owners and the dental care and tooth extraction of the their miniature schnauzers. They are sad to read.
During her lecture, Marja Hassi gave instruction on the proper care of the dogs' teeth and I, for one, intend to follow them.
I hope that the Finnish Miniature Schnauzer's Club will share the information gained by Marja Hassi's lecture - as she has hoped.

During the spring and summer, we have shown our junior dogs and dogs aiming for championship results. During the fall, our veteran dogs enter the ring. It is quite an honor to show off seniors whom are in good health and spirits.
The group show in Kihniö was at the Unified School. The organizers were surprised by the larger than expected turn out. The crowds were big, the rings were small and all of the buns were sold out during the morning. Fortunately, the weather was just fine for everyone - not too hot and a good breeze.
Our nine-year old, "Lumi" participated in the show after many years on the sidelines. She remembered ring presentation really well as told by the results: her first veteran certificate and a placing as Best Bitch in the ring.
This will be a day to remember for our white princess, "Alina" earned her last Finnish veteran certificate. Two new titles were added to the list.

Sat 9.8.
A decade has passed since the previous World Winner show at the Helsinki Fairgrounds. My dogs that were in the show then have already moved on to greener pastures. This time, my veteran “Alina” and junior “Etta” were in the ring.
It was crowded at the edge of the ring but everyone fit and were in good spirits.
A mindnumbing amount of white miniature schnauzer females participated, at least 25. The judge was Galyna Kalinichenko from Ukraine. 51 white miniature schnauzers total competed for the World Winner title.
76 Pepper & Salt miniature schnauzers were judged by Stefan Wächer from Germany.

On Thursday was the Circuit Show which is a special exhibition for miniature schnauzers. It was also the ISPU Show. The day was a success as we got a new FI JMVA.
We were so tired after the exhibition that we put off shopping until Saturday. Friday was our day off.

Oh my God, what a location and weather for a show at thwe Vatula Shooting Sports Center in Ikaalinen. The route to the show was on a narrow, rocky and hilly forest road. Luckily, our car has the ground clearance and powerful engine to make the journey. Not all locations are sutiable for dog shows. Wasn't there a free school sports field or something similar available?
As for the weather, there is nothing the organizers can do about it. However, those of us that attend these shows could prepare appropriate clothes to wear.
Regardless, I didn't wreck the car, the rain stopped and the show results were great.

Thank you to Johanna and Aleksandra for coming on Friday evening to set up the show tent on the edge of the ring for Saturday's show. The show day at the Racetrack in Pori was hot. We were prepared for the day with foil blankets, fans, cooling mats and clothes. The dogs were cool under the shelter of the tent. Each of us humans found a place to watch the show whether it was out in the sun or in the shade of the tent.

The experience on this trip to Sweden with Eija was fast and furious. Our journey started from the Port of Turku. Thanks to the Huhtala family for leading us a parking space.
We started our thrilling ride on the ship with a good breakfast and good sleep in our cabin. After that, we stood on the sun deck and watched as the ship entered Mariehamn harbor. We did some window shopping in the Shoppping Center, testing perfumes and perusing through the clothes.
Eija booked our stay at the Scandic Alvik hotel. This turned out to be a good decision as the room was air-conditioned and there were great outdoor areas for the dogs. And, the breakfast was good as well.
The rings in the exhibition venue were a disappointment. The grass was too long and the ground was uneven.

There are different rules for the Veteran Class in Sweden, compared to Finland. For instance, your dog can become the best Veteran of the breed without a SA. In Sweden, only the best Veteran of the breed is chosen.
After the show in Märstä, we travelled to Västerås. Once again, Eija booked a great place stay, a lovely cottage at Hem Till Gården.
Fortunately, the exhibition space was exactly how it should be with short grass and even ground. Show services were close. There is a place where they sell baked potatoes. We highly recommend it, they were delicious.

The journey back to the port and then onto Finland started on a happy note. We stopped at Hagaparken in Solna to walk the dogs. The park was spacious with woods, lakes and plenty of animals (Read: goose droppings). Hagaparken also has beautiful buildings. The highlights included the Pavilion of Gustav III, the Ekotemplet Dining Hall, dating back to the 1790s and the Haga Palace, dating back to the 19th century, which was the residence of Crown Princess Victoria's family.
When we finally got back to the ship, a ship attendant informed us that we did not have a dog cabin booked. We were able to get a normal room but we had to pay additional fees including the pet fee and extra cleaning fee considering the room would need to be meticulously cleaned after we checked out.
Fortunately, in the end, everything went well and we managed to get back to Finland with the dogs safe and sound.

A lightweight down jacket would have been useful for the show at Turku's Metsämäki race track for the strong, cold wind. Fortunately, the organizers of the show managed to secure perimeter taping, dismantled the secretarial tents and gave regular warnings of the strong winds thereby avoiding major damage.
This was the first appearance of Star´s Of White Night Iseland ”Alina” in a Finnish show ring in the veteran class. She is 8 years old now. Where has the time gone?

It was an extremely successful show trip in every way with the best kennel man in the world and my sponsor, my husband Jussi. It's an easy trip with the dogs when everything goes smoothly from dog meals, walks and staying in a hotel room while we are at a restaurant.
In addition to the shows, there's always visits to interesting and well-known restaurants. This year we managed to grab a spot at Bella Napoli Pizzeria. My tuna pizza was a treat while Jussi's lasanga was delicious and the service was friendly. We will be back here again.
The venue was a familiar one, Kipsala Exhibition and Congress Centre. The hall is cramped and oppressive which is why the number of dogs attending the show is limited to 1,500 per day. This year, the spots were filled in record time.

In Tervalampi, Vihti, we participated in the Finnish Miniature Schanuzer Club's Special Show using a different lineup than usual. Me, Johanna, Petra and five dogs from Team Dumond participated with several of the dogs in the show and the rest on tour dog duty.
Despite the inappropriate and aggresive behavior of one person, we were able to find a parking space relatively easily. Perhaps it would be a good time to implement the principles of safety in SKSK r's events.
Hopefully the special exhibition for 2026 will be held in a place other than Tervalampi. Somewhere with better area and atmosphere deserving of the main event of the year.
The show went as usual, although the judges were extremely slow in their judging which resulted in the show lasting for far longer than it should.
